A Weekend in Vegas

Jeff proposed on August 17, 1997 in Freeport, IL, and we immediately decided to get married over Christmas break in Las Vegas.  We wanted a time when there would be no FFA activities to conflict with, but that lasted only a few years.  We flew to Vegas the day after Christmas and were married December 27, 1997 at the Shalimar Wedding Chapel, a small chapel in the Howard Johnson Motel, with six friends joining us for the ceremony.

Immediately following the wedding, we took a limo to the Stratosphere to eat cake and ride the Big Shot and the roller coaster atop the casino.  We spent the remainder of the afternoon at the Stratosphere before heading back to the Luxor to prepare for the evening.  We went out for dinner that evening at Binion's Horseshoe Casino and Restaurant on Freemont Street.

We stayed in Vegas until Tuesday, traveling to the Hoover Dam and Red Rock Canyon.  The weather was beautiful for late December, especially for a couple from Illinois.  We returned home on December 30 to begin our life together.
